Yaz Uemura May

Yaz (Yasuyo) Uemura May is a performer and hairstylist. Building on earlier creative collaborations, such as band projects, she has expanded her practice into conceptual sound and body movement, creating soundscapes for performances including Berlin Fashion & Art Week, and exploring the gong as part of her ongoing practice.

Yaz explores her embodied awareness through performance and Butoh, creating performance pieces both independently and in collaboration with other artists.
