Sonja Ortiz

I’m a director and actress based in Berlin. My passion lies in creating films and theatrical productions that embrace the relevance of ancient mythologies, the experiences of migration, and the strength of intercultural work. With a strong focus on gender equality and empowering women, my mission is to touch hearts, break boundaries, and tell transformative stories that unite us and reflect the spirit of our time.

Born and raised in Germany. I discovered my passion for performing arts at the Theatre Academy La Casona in Barcelona, Spain. I’ve been fortunate to have amazing opportunities to develop and perfect my filmmaking and director work. I wrote and directed several films, and I was selected for the masterclass „Filming in Peru with Werner Herzog,“ which was an unforgettable experience. Further, I deepened my knowledge of film studies with a degree from Freie Universität Berlin.

International institutions have recognized my work, including the Fonds Darstellende Künste, Kulturfonds Auswärtiges Amt, and UDK Interflugs (Germany), as well as the Qorikancha Museum Cusco and Ministerio de Relaciones exteriores (Peru). I’m incredibly grateful to touch and inspire people worldwide with my work.

Acting and directing allow me to channel my creative energy, and I’m excited to discover and create even more. Turning my passion into my profession has been a dream come true, and I’m eager to realize many more exciting projects.
