Max Woelky was born in Berlin in 1985. In 2004, while he was bartending in Berlin Schöneberg, a caster asked him to join the movie business and offered him the lead in Oliver Schmitz’s film "Allein unter Schülern”. Since then, Max Woelky could be seen in more than 40 films. He played leading roles in award-winning films, among them Marc-Andreas Bochert’s "Empathie,” Max Zeitler’s "Wer rettet Dina Foxx?” and Friedemann Fromm’s "Die Wölfe.” He learned the trade of acting by taking classes with renowned coaches like Frank Betzelt, Marianne Bernhard, and Kristiane Kupfer.
 From 2008 to 2010, Max Woelky was engaged in several projects that Zentrum für politische Schönheit initiated, and which led to the documentary film "Der Himmel über Srebrenica.” 
 Together with Berlin-based musician Pamin, Max Woelky founded MaxKarl in 2011. The artist duo created a cultural hub where they curated exhibitions and organized concerts and readings.
 From 2015 to 2021, Max Woelky has been studying theater directing at Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt am Main, Germany and Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, Switzerland.
 Max Woelky’s artistic interests do not only arise from the practice of acting, but are also grounded in the process of the creative work itself as well as in his deep concern for the societal, political, and cultural realities that surround him.
