Kumar Muniandy

I am a Tamil-Malaysian actor, theatremaker, and writer. I trained at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London and work across the UK and Europe, moving between theatre, film, and live performance.

A lot of my work comes from lived experience. I’m interested in identity, migration, masculinity, queerness, and care, and I often explore these through solo performance and original writing alongside acting work. My solo show Second Class Queer has toured internationally, including performances in Berlin, Hamburg, Brighton, Zagreb, London, and at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

More recently, I premiered I’m Coming For You Anyway at TD Theatre Berlin as part of the Monologfestival, supported by the Berlin Senate. Alongside theatre, I’ve worked on film and television projects in Germany and the UK, collaborating with institutions such as the English Theatre Berlin, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. My screen work includes projects with DFFB Berlin, HFF Munich, and ZDF.

I care about telling stories with honesty and specificity, especially stories that don’t often get space on European stages and screens. I’m drawn to work that values presence, nuance, and complexity, and I’m always interested in collaborations that allow the work to breathe and evolve.
