JULES* ELTING is a trans nonbinary actor based in Berlin + São Paulo. Their pronouns are in English (they/them), German (keine Pronomen/Jules*), Portugues (elu/delu).
Born in Hamburg Jules* studied contemporary dance at Martha-Graham School, NYC & acting at the theater and music university "Felox-Medelssohn-Bartholdy" in Leipzig, Germany. After a classical theatre career in German Stadttheater they worked for 10 years in Brazil as company member of "Teatro Oficina", São Paulo, one of Brazil's biggest and most famous theatres.
Since 2015 they are known for international cinema productions, such as "The Ornithologist" by João Pedro Rodrigues, which won the Silver Leopard in Locarno. 2019 they were chosen as one of three German actors for TALENT at Berlinale. "King Car" by Renata Pinheiro, in which they play Mercedes, one of the leads premiered in competition at IFFR / International Film Festival Rotterdam 2021 and won Best Film at the Brazilian Oscars, Filmfestival Gramado, where Jules* was also nominated for Best Acting. They hosted the 35th Teddy Award at Berlinale Film Festival in summer 2021. "Vampires in Space" with Jules* in the main cast premiered in at the Biennale in Venice April 2022 and is shown until November, before travelling the world. The German "Prout at Work" nominated Jules* 2022 as number 5 on the top50 list of LGBTQIA+ personalities and activists in Media, Arts & Culture.
